Alicia Berneche has sung on stages around the globe, bringing to them a unique, beautifully produced sound, an extraordinary acting talent, and an exquisite musicality. Often specializing in contemporary works, she appeared on the stages of the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, along with essaying Helen Niles in the new edition of Mourning Becomes Electra by Marvin David Levy, and appearing at The Goodman Theatre, The Barbican, and BAM in the world premiere of Philip Glass’ and Mary Zimmerman’s Galileo Galilei. She has also sung with celebrated conductors and ensembles, including Carmina Burana with the Minnesota Orchestra under Osmo Vänskä and Le nozze di Figaro under Zubin Mehta.

Tim Rebers and Ms. Berneche have been crafting and work shopping this for three years, and now Thank You, Next gets a full production at the lovely Tenth Street Theatre in Milwaukee (628 North Tenth Street, Milwaukee, WI) at 7:30 on the 23, 24, 25 and 2pm on the 26th. From the Diary of Virginia Woolf lecture recital at Northwestern University

Happy Birthday, Virginia Woolf! Talar Khosdegian and I will be presenting the Pulitzer Prize winning song cycle by Dominick Argento of clipping from her diary, but also helping the audience follow the complex story within the music and guiding them through the special motifs Argento used to trace Woolf's journey to her final decision to commit suicide.

Ms. Khosdegian and I have many song cycles that we have developed into lecture recitals, and are excited to present this one for the Northwestern English department in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts McClintock Choral Arts and Recital Room.
